Disney+ parental controls: limit ratings, lock profiles, and check live content

Do not assume everything available through Disney+ belongs in a child's profile. Disney provides profile-level controls for its broader catalog, including content from other brands inside the app. ¹

Recommended setup

1. Set the right profile type. Use Junior Mode for a young child's curated experience, or edit a regular profile and choose its maximum Content Rating.
2. Lock unrestricted profiles. Add a Profile PIN to each profile with access beyond the chosen boundary.
3. Restrict profile creation. In account settings, enable the restriction on creating profiles so a password is required.
4. Review live and unrated content. In parental controls, turn off Allow titles without ratings like live sports, news, and more when your boundary should exclude that material.
5. Check Junior Mode exits. Kid-Proof Exit adds a challenge to leaving Junior Mode. Pair it with PINs on unrestricted profiles; do not treat the challenge as a secret parental PIN. ¹

Good to know

A rating ceiling does not express every personal content preference. Review specific programs when your concern is sexual content, intensity, or another topic within an otherwise acceptable rating.

Also, treat Disney+ and a separate Hulu app as separate setups. A bundle subscription is not a reason to assume the controls you just configured govern every app you can open.

For adults using a PIN holder, review who can change account settings and recover access. Do not hand over an unrelated email account simply to create more friction.

Check your setup

Open the restricted profile on your television and phone. Confirm that a harmless above-limit title is unavailable, unrestricted profiles prompt for a PIN, and creating a profile requires authorization. Check a live-content entry separately from an on-demand movie.
