Hulu parental controls: Kids profiles plus PIN Protection

On Hulu, a Kids profile is only part of the setup. PIN Protection addresses the next question: can someone simply switch into a non-Kids profile?

Recommended setup

1. Create the child's profile. Add a new profile, enter its name, turn on Kids, and save it. Hulu limits that profile to its Kids experience.
2. Enable PIN Protection. In a browser, open your profile menu, choose Manage Profiles, and find Parental Controls. Turn on PIN Protection.
3. Confirm the change. Enter the account password and create the four-digit PIN.
4. Keep unrestricted access private. The PIN is required when switching into a non-Kids profile or creating another profile. Keep it separate from codes your child already knows. ¹

Good to know

The account password can be used to change or reset the PIN. For an adult who owns the account, this is a reversible account control, not a guaranteed delay before access returns. ¹

This guide does not turn a regular Hulu profile into a custom, scene-by-scene filter. A Kids catalog may also be too narrow for an adult or older teen's needs. When neither option fits the boundary, consider a more limited selection of services rather than assuming the PIN filters the content inside an unrestricted profile.

Check your setup

Start from the Kids profile. Attempt to switch to a non-Kids profile and create a new one. Check for the PIN prompt on each television, streaming device, and mobile app. Hulu recommends checking that the app is current when PIN Protection is not working as expected. ¹

Also review separate Disney+ and television-network apps you use with the subscription. Do not count them as checked simply because Hulu itself is configured.
