Crunchyroll parental controls: profile ratings and profile PINs

Treat anime like any other entertainment category: decide what belongs in your viewing profile instead of assuming the art style makes every program appropriate.

Recommended setup

1. Select the intended profile. Use the profile menu to switch to the profile you want to restrict. Open its account preferences and find Content Restrictions. Review the available age-rating choices and save your limit. Crunchyroll describes these restrictions as profile-specific. ¹²
2. Protect broader profiles. On supported Premium accounts, open account settings and enable Profile PIN for profiles with wider access. Complete the account-password confirmation and PIN setup. ³
3. Review the full profile list. Check every profile, not just the first one. Decide whether another profile is necessary and who should be able to enter it.

Good to know

Crunchyroll's account password can be used to manage or reset profile PIN access. The provider documents profile PINs for Premium plans, so do not assume the same control is available on a free account. ³

A government classification authority's reviewed walkthrough notes that rating restrictions can limit playback while artwork or trailers remain visible. Check browsing as well as the play button before relying on the experience for a child. ⁴

For an adult who wants no access to sexualized material, a viewing restriction may not meet the whole goal if discovery pages still contain unwanted imagery.

Check your setup

Inspect a harmless above-limit title without playing it. Verify the playback restriction, then look at what remains visible in search and on the home screen. Try entering another profile and opening settings. Repeat on the television or mobile device you normally use.

When the available controls do not match your boundary, choose supervised viewing or a different service rather than describing the account as fully locked down.
