Paramount+ parental controls: the viewing PIN and live TV

Paramount+ provides rating-based parental controls, but device support matters. Do not finish setup without checking the television where the service will actually be used.

Recommended setup

1. Use a browser. Sign in, open your account settings, and turn on Parental Controls.
2. Create the PIN. Confirm the account password and choose a four-digit parental PIN.
3. Choose which ratings require authorization. Review the displayed rating selections and save the restriction level you want.
4. Review live television. Use the separate Lock Live TV option when live channels and feeds should require authorization too. ¹

Good to know

Paramount+'s help documentation lists device exceptions, including Samsung and Vizio smart TVs and older Apple TV models. Controls should not be assumed to work on every app or television. Check the current official list and your exact device before relying on them. ¹

The same documentation describes controls for supported streaming and downloaded viewing. That is a reason to check both, not a reason to skip your device test. The account password can also be used when resetting the PIN. ¹

When a device does not support the required restriction, use a different supported viewing device or remove access there. Do not treat a successful browser test as proof that the unsupported television is protected.

Check your setup

Try a harmless above-limit title on each device. Check a live channel separately. Verify the prompt before handing the remote to a child or considering the adult-account setup complete.

Record the television model and app version with your household setup notes. Those details make it much easier to investigate a restriction that later behaves differently.
